Paintless Dent Removal or Insurance Claim ?

Customers sometimes ask us if we work with insurance companies.  Paintless dent removal is fairly economical.   It is rare to turn in an insurance claim for our services.  Our work is usually less than the cost of your deductable.  A repair that a body shop would charge $1000 for, may be only $150 to $200 using the paintless method.  Most people carry a $500 to $1000 deductible for collision coverage.  The deductable is the portion that you pay before your insurance starts paying for the claim.  This means if you are bumped in a parking lot and the responsible party didn’t leave a note, you are stuck.  The insurance companies view this as a collision; therefore your collision deductible would need to be paid before your insurance kicks in.   According to our local insurance agent, most carriers will raise your premium (annual bill) by a minimum of 10 to 12% for 3 years if your claim is under $750 and there is no bodily injury.  This equates to 1 point on your driving record.  Insurance companies look at points as their risk to insure someone.  The more points on a driving record, the higher the risk.  The higher the risk, the more you pay for insurance.   It is every driver’s responsibility to leave a note if they bump into someone’s car or other property.  This is the law and not complying is a hit and run.  Most people are understanding and would prefer to have the damages repaired without making an insurance claim.  We can usually have the repair done in 2 hours or less and everyone is happy.   I have heard from several customers who contacted their insurance company to inquire about putting in a claim for this type of damage.  Many carriers are required to put a note in your record that you have damage to your vehicle.  They then want proof that the damage is repaired before you can put in any future claim that may be totally unrelated.   The Dent Shoppe recommends saving your insurance for the times when you really need to file a claim.  Stop by and see us first for small dents and dings.  We may save you lots of money and frustration.  We offer free estimates on a drop in basis.
