If it sounds too good to be true . . .
If you are approached in a parking lot by someone offering to fix your dent on the spot, run the other way. There is no legitimate dent repair person that will aggressively persist to fix your dent on the spot.
We hear stories all the time of people who tell us that that they were approached by someone offering a dent repair on the spot for a low price. The price is negotiated down, and down until it sounds too good to pass up. After a few minutes, the vehicle is damaged beyond a simple repair. There may be sharp poke marks in the metal, cracked paint, or poor body work. Some tricksters will even apply roofing tar or some other substance to hide the additional damage that they have caused. The customer is then told to leave that on for a couple of days and wash it off and the dent will be gone. The damage becomes far greater and the correct repair cost will be much higher after their “fix.”
The local police are looking out for these criminals. If you are approached, get their license plate number as you politely tell them you are not interested in their services. They have even stolen business cards from our shop to swindle folks. What a dirty trick. Please don’t be a victim.
